Acer Aspire Revo AR1600-U910H Netbooks Review

Revo Aspire 1600 is the easiest to describe the functions that are missing. No wireless network card, you have to add one via a USB 2.0 port, or hard wire to your home network system. The Revo also has no optical drive. The roadblock in the installation disk-based software is probably not the worst decision of Acer could have done. Full-size applications such as gaming and digital media editors quickly overwhelm the Revo 160GB hard drive and 1.6GHz Intel Atom N230 CPU.

Boxee Device upcoming on December 7

Avner Ronen through Boxee blog announced:We launched our public alpha for Mac / Linux in January at CES. During the program we found several equipment manufacturers interested in embedding Boxee on existing equipment or the construction of a special unit to Boxee.

I am very pleased to announce that we signed our first partnership with an enterprise EC. At this point we can not say more about the couple or the device specifications, but we can say that we are working closely with them to ensure we offer an experience of great Boxee on it.

Gateway 11.6” Netbook Review

Gateway has decided to use an AMD Athlon 64 L110 with its netbook LT3103u again. While this processor running at a clock frequency lower than the atom actually perform on par or better than the Intel platform. Course much of it is because the Gateway includes 2 GB of DDR2 memory, 250GB hard drive and Vista Home Premium operating system instead of being limited by licensing of Microsoft XP.

The big win for consumers looking for a netbook is graphic. With a large 11.6-inch LED-backlit screen, the system has a very high resolution of 1366x768, which gives a much larger workspace. Execution of the graph is a Radeon X1270 graphics processor, which also brings 720p high definition video for netbook market. This is a great victory for those seeking portable high-definition video playback. The graphics are very able to handle 1080i video channels, but the screen is not so great anyway.

The biggest drawback to LT3103u Gateway is battery life. Although the system is equipped with a six-cell battery, power graphics processor and prevent it from reaching the super long run times. In my test video summary, the system was able to get around 4 hours of playback is still good, but far from what some netbooks are capable of.

One of the most entertaining aspects of the Gateway is LT3103u access panels in the bottom of the system. This makes it easier for users to change the memory module or hard disk. There is also access to two mini PCI slots for more advanced modifications for those who are inclined to add Bluetooth or a solid state drive.

Gateway plans to offer the T3100 in several configurations in black and red cases prices start at $399.99.

Bowers & Wilkins intros MM 1 Desktop Speaker Review

Bowers & Wilkins speaker company has announced its latest range of computer speakers, MM-1. Each speaker contains a 3-woofer and a 1-inch tweeters, with each driver with a dedicated 18W amplifier. The tweeters feature B & W Nautilus tube-loaded design is intended to dampen vibration and enhance high frequency sounds.

The speakers also incorporate Digital Signal Processing (DSP) components to automatically adjust the sound balance, depending on the signal. When connected to a computer via USB speakers can handle digital to analog conversion for better sound. Users can submit their headphones for MM-1, which integrates a headphone amplifier designed to provide a dramatic improvement in the standard PC or Mac to leave.

The company shows a frequency response of-6dB at 57Hz and 22kHz. While many tower speakers are optimized for listening at a distance, the MM-1 is designed for near field listening, only a few meters away. An aux-in jack can also be used to connect iPods or CD players and DVD.

The tweeters features the company’s signature Nautilus tube-loaded design that is claimed to produce improved high-frequency sounds.The Bowers & Wilkins MM-1 will be released in February 2010. No word on pricing yet.

MM-1 is expected in February, although prices have not yet been announced.

Saygus V1 Handset for Verizon's Network

Saygus reportedly V1 prepares its Android phone to Verizon's network, according to the Phone Coop. The slider to the page will be called vPhone and serve as Verizon's raid in the Initiative for Development in the Open. Product highlights include the ability to work as a Wi-Fi router, wireless broadband, while a front-facing VGA camera is able to share two-way live video feeds with others.

The vPhone integrate a range of advanced smartphone features, including a capacitive touchscreen, 800x480, 5 megapixel camera with flash key, and a 624MHz processor. The device also offers Wi-Fi, EVDO Rev. A and Bluetooth connectivity along with GPS and an electronic compass. The device in question is not the best looking thing we’ve seen, but it does offer a slide out QWERTY keyboard and a selection of decent mid range specifications to keep Android lovers entertained. Specification information is available after the jump. Furthermore, it should offer “MiFi”, allowing the device to act as a personal WiFi router ideal for when users are on the road.

Nikon Coolpix S70 Digital Camera Review

Nikon Coolpix S70 is a striking piece of machinery, with a striking design and impressive multi-screen 3.5-inch OLED touch. It gives a fairly standard 12.1-megapixel sensor and a state of high-definition video, but user reviews suggest the image quality leaves something to be desired in comparison with the cams with similar specifications. It should not be a problem in this price range, although the screen is really sweet.

Nikon Coolpix S70 comes with a useful 20 MB internal memory, which is just enough to start. The camera takes SD / SDHC memory cards, and I would recommend 4 GB to boot. A high speed card is optional, because the camera does not work very quickly with one.

Nikon Coolpix S70 comes with a rechargeable EN-EL12 battery and charger. This small compact battery can power the camera with the capacity for around 200 shots per charge, which is rather comparable to the average and the camera's "other" big touchscreen on the group, Sony TX1.

LG launch 15 inch OLED TV in Korea

Windows Vista isn't the only operating system making its debut this year, as Microsoft also revamped its OS for mobile devices and formally introduced Windows Mobile 6 at 3GSM World Congress. Taking the reins from Windows Mobile 5, Windows Mobile 6 isn't a complete overhaul of the OS; instead, it offers a number of useful enhancements that makes performing tasks easier and puts more powerful tools into the hands of mobile professionals. We were particularly impressed with the new e-mail search function, Mobile Office additions, and Windows Live integration, but we think Microsoft could have done a lot more. For example, multimedia improvements are practically nonexistent and the user interface is still kludgey, requiring numerous steps to complete a simple task. Also, some of the enhanced functionality to Outlook and calendaring require that you use Exchange Server 2007.

Interface :

Windows Mobile 5 users won't be in for any major surprises when they see Windows Mobile 6, as the interface largely remains the same as before. Windows Mobile 6 does have more of a Vista look with its similar color scheme and bubbly, eye-pleasing icons. Along the top of the Today screen, you still get shortcuts to your most recently used apps, but the icons are slightly larger. Below that, you'll find such important information as time, date, upcoming appointments, messages, and so forth. Of course, you can customize the background image, color scheme, and backlight time.

E-mail :

E-mail is a lot smarter on Windows Mobile 6. First, all devices will ship with Microsoft's Direct Push technology so you get real-time e-mail delivery and automatic synchronization with your Outlook calendar, tasks, and contacts via Exchange Server. Microsoft has also added nine new one-click shortcuts, as we noted above; plus, you get more of the true Outlook experience as your In-box view shows messages that are flagged, marked as high importance, and so forth. Once again, with Exchange Server 2007, you can do even more with Outlook Mobile, such as set up an Out of Office reply.

Windows Live for Mobile and Web browsing :

If you have a Hotmail/Windows Live e-mail account, you can easily access those messages with Windows Live for Mobile. It's a simple matter of inputting your user ID and password, then you can choose to synchronize your e-mail and contacts, which integrates nicely into your phone's address book. As far as instant messenger, you get Live Messenger (formerly MSN Messenger), which boasts some improvements in its own right. Now, you can have multiperson chats and send images and voice clips via IM. While we appreciate these new capabilities, we're disappointed that there's not a more universal app included that supports other popular IM clients such as AIM and Yahoo.
